MCA students doing TV salutes
MOUNT CARMEL - Mount Carmel Area students involved in planning for the April 20 Mahoney Brothers concert at the school are helping promote the event with appearances this week on WNEP-TV.
Monday morning, students appeared for the "Good Morning, Pennsylvania" promo at 7:27 a.m. They'll be on again at that time Wednesday and Thursday. Today and Friday, they'll be on at 8:27 a.m.
Also today and Thursday, they'll be saying "Good Night, Pennsylvania" at the end of the 10 p.m. newscast on WNEP2.
Tickets are on sale for the concert from any member of the senior class. Doors open at 7 p.m., and a pasta dinner with all the trimmings will be served from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. in the school cafeteria, sponsored by the Mount Carmel Area band boosters.
Mahoney Brothers concerts has served as successful fundraisers for a playground built at the Terry-Miriello sports complex in Kulpmont.

Meeting today on Moving Wall
SHAMOKIN - The Soldiers Circle Veterans Association will meet at 7 p.m. today at Knockers Billiards and Games, 30 S. Market St. to discuss The Moving Wall Vietnam War memorial, which will be displayed in May 2014 at the Tharptown playground, Coal Township. The public is welcome.

Knights plan annual ARC drive
KULPMONT - Kulpmont Council Knights of Columbus members are preparing for their annual Measure Up drive to support ARC.
The Northumberland County Chapter of the ARC of Pennsylvania is a nonprofit organization providing advocacy and resources for citizens with developmental disabilities.
Measure Up events are set for:
Friday, April 19: Susquehanna Bank, Kulpmont branch, 8:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.
Saturday, April 20: Susquehanna Bank, Kulpmont, branch 8:30 a.m. to noon.
Saturday, April 20: Holy Angels Church, Kulpmont, after 5:30 p.m. Mass.
Sunday, April 21: Holy Angels Church, Kulpmont, after 8:30 and 10:30 a.m. Masses.
