FORT JACKSON, S.C. - Army Reserve Pvt. Jared D. Ruch graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson.
During the nine weeks of training, Ruch studied the Army mission, history, tradition and core values, physical fitness, basic combat skills, military weapons, chemical warfare and bayonet training, drill and ceremony, marching, rifle marksmanship, armed and unarmed combat, map reading, field tactics, military courtesy, military justice system and basic first aid. He also participated in foot marches and field training exercises.
Ruch, a 2012 graduate of Shamokin Area Middle/High School, is a son of Pamela Glazik, of Sunbury, and Daniel Billig, of Coal Township.
