MOUNT CARMEL - A 22-year-old borough man who allegedly robbed $90 from a pedestrian last week has been charged with multiple offenses, including felonies of robbery and flight to avoid apprehension.
Jeffrey Thomas Huben, of 516 E. Fifth St., who was arrested outside his home about 10:35 p.m. March 10 after police spent approximately two hours searching for him, is charged by Patrolman Justin Stelma with the felonies and misdemeanors of simple assault, theft by unlawful taking and receiving stolen property.
He remains incarcerated in Northumberland County Prison in Sunbury for an outstanding probation violation.
Huben is accused of asking for a few dollars from a 40-year-old man he encountered in the first block of West Second Street at 8:20 p.m. When the man responded in kind, Owens said Huben yanked away a wad of cash and fled on foot.
The victim knew Huben to see him about town and identified him using the suspect's nickname, "Jelly Doughnuts," Owens said.
When Huben was taken into custody, he was not in possession of any weapons or drugs, Owens said.
