Drawdown at Tuscarora
BARNESVILLE - Between Oct. 15 and 31, the staff at Tuscarora State Park will begin an eight- to 10-foot drawdown of the lake. Specific timing will be determined by the weather.
The staff will take advantage of the drawdown to replenish beach sand and make repairs to beach markets. The drawdown will affect the launching of boats.
If the weather cooperates, the drawdown will be stopped within seven to 10 days, and lake conditions should be back to normal within a few weeks.
Act 80 day Wednesday
COAL TOWNSHIP - Shamokin Area School District students will have an Act 80 early dismissal Wednesday.
The elementary school will dismiss at 12:45 p.m., and the middle/high school at 12:18 p.m. K-4 afternoon students will have classes.
Master gardeners' program at library
SHAMOKIN - The Penn State master gardeners will present a program at 1 p.m. Saturday in the Shamokin-Coal Township Public Library on bulbs, rhizomes, corms, tubers and fleshy roots.
There will be a PowerPoint presentation of 299 colorful slides. Bagged bulbs will be for sale.
