EXCELSIOR - For the second time in as many days, emergency personnel were pressed into action for a vehicle accident on Route 901.

The accident occurred at 7:35 p.m. Thursday at a curve near the Coal Township/Mount Carmel Township line, where a vehicle left the eastbound lane and rolled onto its driver's side in a ditch between a large culm bank and the eastbound lane.

The driver was placed into the back of a squad car after emergency medical technicians checked him for injuries.

The vehicle appeared to hit an International tractor-trailer owned by Reinhart FoodService based in Coal Township. The truck sustained minor damage. The driver was uninjured.

No other information was available Thursday evening.

Responding to the scene were Brady Fire Company, East End Fire Company, Rescue 193, AREA Services, fire police and Coal Township Police.

Second wreck

Tuesday evening, 17-year-old Jenna Jurasich, of Mount Carmel, was injured after crashing into a thicket off the highway, directly across from the scene Thursday evening

Jurasich was driving a Ford Explorer east about 8:20 p.m. when she swerved to avoid an animal and lost control of her vehicle, crossing the westbound lanes and crashing into a densely wooded area, according to Patrolman Kelly Campbell, Mount Carmel Township Police.

The vehicle crashed through a dead tree and brush, continuing into the woods about 30 feet before coming to rest against a small tree, narrowly missing several larger trees that could have caused more significant damage and injury.
