Food pantry distribution Saturday
MOUNT CARMEL - The Mount Carmel Food Pantry will hold its monthly distribution from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the Notary Shop, 215 S. Oak St. for borough residents who have signed up in the past.
Residents at the Midrise are asked to meet in the lobby at 11 a.m.
Priest, medical doctor to speak
MOUNT CARMEL - The Rev. Dr. Rodrigo Arrazola will preach the annual eucharistic devotions at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 47 S. Market St., at the 7 p.m. services on Sunday and Monday and the solemn closing on Tuesday.
Arrazola earned his doctorate of medicine from the University of Bogotá, Columbia, South America, in 1986, where he practiced medicine as director of two Catholic clinics and taught medicine at the university. He was ordained a Catholic priest for the Diocese of Harrisburg in 2009 and is presently pastor of Sacred Heart Church in Cornwall. He is also the liaison for the Hispanic Charismatic Renewal for the diocese.
He is a sought-after preacher in the renewal throughout the United States and Canada.
All students are requested to bring a written prayer to place in the basket in front of the altar during the procession. The public is invited.
L.M. boosters craft show Saturday
MANDATA - Line Mountain Softball Boosters' annual craft show is set for 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the junior-senior high school, Route 225.
One hundred vendors will sell homemade crafts, raffles and food, including homemade ham and bean soup and chicken-corn soup. Admission is free, and proceeds go to the girls softball team.

ATLAS - The Mount Carmel Township Food Pantry will hold its monthly distribution from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the township complex. Residents in Atlas, Diamondtown, Strong, Locust Gap, Connorsville, Dooleyville and Beaverdale who signed up previously are eligible.
Kulpmont street sweeping to begin end of March
KULPMONT - Borough residents are reminded that Kulpmont's street sweeper season will begin on March 28 and March 29 and run through September.
Conservation district tree sale set
The Northumberland County Conservation District's 43rd annual Tree Sale has begun. The deadline for orders is April 1st. Tree varieties to be sold include evergreens, fruit trees, deciduous trees, ornamental trees and bushes. Along with a large variety of trees, spring flowers will also be sold.
Dave Crowl, Chairman of the Northumberland County Conservation District says, "Our annual tree sale is a great opportunity to reach out to county residents and encourage the important act of planting trees. Our sale provides a diverse selection of both natives and non-natives to honor requests we've received over the past 43 years."
The Northumberland County Conservation District was formed in 1943 under the Conservation District Law, and is a subdivision of state government. This District is one of 66 Conservation Districts throughout the state of Pennsylvania. Individuals supporting the annual Tree Sale not only benefit the environment, but also reinforce the important work of this organization that serves the agricultural community and works with municipalities, contractors, schools, and watershed groups.
Order forms for the 2013 Tree Sale are available by contacting the Conservation District office at 495-4665, or online at www.nccdpa.org. NCCD is also on Facebook at www.facebook.com/nccdpa.
Orders must be received by April 1st, and availability is limited for some species. Payment is due with the order, and can be made via check, money order, or credit card. Items are available for pick up April 24th and 25th at the Rockefeller Township Building, located on Seven Points Road off of Route 890 south of Sunbury.
Progress reports coming at Shamokin Area
The Shamokin Area Middle / High School will be distributing progress reports to students on Friday, March 15. All students in grades 7-12 will receive a progress report to update parents with their child's academic status.
Shamokin Area Pre-K registration
COAL TOWNSHIP - Shamokin Area School District is taking appointments to be held March 26 and 27 for the Pre-K program for four-year-olds.
Parents are asked to call the elementary school office at 648-5721, extension 2900, to make an appointment.
Children must be four years of age by the first day of school, which is tentatively scheduled for Monday, Aug. 26, to qualify.
Catawissa author releases book
CATAWISSA - Donald Olsen, of Catawissa, recently released his new book, "The Nature of Love," through Tate Publishing and Enterprises and is now available.
In the book, Olson shares the story of his relationship with God, from its rocky start and the many miracles he says he witnessed, and directs people to help them discover their own relationship.

Quest camps returning to Bloomsburg U.
BLOOMSBURG - Registration is open for a series of hands-on, adventure and education-based summer camps for ages 8 to 13 at Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania's upper campus, led by BU's Quest program.
Students will be able to participate in a variety of Quest activities during the camps, including the 50-foot climbing tower, 200-foot zip lines, rafting or kayaking, team building and field games. Weekly sessions will run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Mondays through Fridays from June 10 through the week of Aug. 12. Cost of the weekly camps is $185 per camper. There will also be a Leader-in-Training program for those 14 to 17 on June 8 and 9, which will focus on leadership skills needed to assist with the camps for youger students. Admission to that program is application-based and open to a limited number of participants at a cost of $100 per person.
