TREVORTON - A special meeting on proposed zoning changes in Zerbe Township will be held at 6 p.m. Oct. 22, supervisors reported Monday evening.

Township solicitor Roger Wiest explained the zoning plan will change the residential area along Route 225 in Trevorton to a residential/commercial zone. The purpose is to create a broader area for shops, stores and other businesses. A connection between one large and one smaller industrial area will also be included in the plans, making these areas more accessible. Wiest was authorized to advertise the proposed changes, and residents in the affected areas will be notified.

Supervisor Mike Mazer reported that, as of Aug. 30, the township received $8,429.21 by electronic transfer from the Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency (PEMA), the first installment for reimbursement for work completed during and after Tropical Storm Lee in September 2011.

The money will reimburse the township for labor, materials and debris removal. Mazer said two more installments will be received - one for $5,597.89, expected the end of September, and one to be released later for $7,326.92. Reimbursement will total $21,354.02.

Secretary Ellen Troutman said many delinquent sewer customers have been making payments. Troutman said a total of $32,219 has been collected. Early in the delinquent collection process, the township had been owed more than $71,000. Supervisors and the solicitor were impressed with Troutman's efforts.

Mazer reminded residents that all trailers, campers and recreational vehicles must be removed from public streets by Saturday. They will not be allowed back on the streets until April 15.
