SHAMOKIN - The Northumberland County Council for the Arts and Humanities, in cooperation with Susquehanna Bank, has a new wildlife art exhibit on display at the Susquehanna Bank branch, 300 E. Independence St.
The exhibit features the original paintings of local artist Phil Krebs. Krebs, a nature artist from Coal Township, began dabbling in art in 1986. Self-taught, he quickly developed a style and artistic perspective that gained a following among art collectors. Within a few years, he rapidly moved up through the ranks and was exhibiting and competing among professional artists from across the country. He has been the subject of numerous newspaper and magazine articles, and was spotlighted in a feature interview on WNEP Channel 16's Pennsylvania Outdoor Life.
In recent years, Krebs was invited to participate in a show featuring the top wildlife artists of Pennsylvania at the Olewine Gallery in the Ned Smith Center for Nature and Art, Millersburg.
His artwork has been donated and has helped to raise money for various charitable organizations, as well as the local Red Cross and the Shamokin-Coal Township Public Library.
Krebs has always attributed his success to "painting what you love, and what you know." His love of the outdoors and the study of nature are apparent in every piece he produces.
The exhibit will continue through March 22 and is free to the public during regular bank hours.
