LYKENS - The Northumberland District Council of Catholic Women held its deanery meeting on Aug. 12 at Our Lady of Help Christians Church, Lykens, with deanery president Elaine Jurgill calling the meeting to order. Terry Bakowicz gave the Bible enthronement.
Members joined in saying the prayer to Our Lady of Good Counsel, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance. Parish host president Terry Bakowicz welcomed everyone. Roll call was taken, and the minutes were read. Rosemary Boyer gave the treasurer's report.
A diocesan-wide pilgrimage to the Shrine of the Immaculuate Conception in Washington, D.C., will take place Sept. 29. Bus transportation will be available. Anyone interested may contact their parish office or Jurgill.
The appreciation dinner for clergy and religious persons will be on Wednesday, Oct. 10, at the Wayside Inn. Tickets are $15.
The meeting was closed with prayers for the sick and deceased members. A luncheon was provided by the council ladies of Our Lady Help of Christians Church.
