RANSHAW - Two local men were treated at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, following a broad-side collision Monday on Route 901 in front of the Sunoco station.
Patrolman Josh Wynn, Coal Township Police, said Glenn Heim, of Trevorton, was driving a Ford Explorer west on the state highway about 3:24 p.m. when his vehicle was struck on its driver side by a Buick LeSabre driven by Justin Hine, of Mount Carmel.
Hine was stopped at a stop sign when he drove from Rock Cut Road onto Route 901, near the Route 61 interchange.
The force of impact prevented the Blazer's driver-side door from being opened. Heim was confined for a brief period before Coal Township emergency responders used the Jaws of Life to cut off the door. He was then placed on a stretcher and loaded onto an AREA Services ambulance.
Hine also was transported by AREA Services.
The front bumper to his vehicle was almost completely ripped off, and vehicle debris was strewn about the highway. Both airbags inside the Buick deployed.
Both vehicles were towed.
