SHAMOKIN - Stephen Prescott Wengrenovich's Eagle ceremony was held Jan. 5 at Grace Lutheran Church.
Wengrenovich started Cub Scouts at St. John's Pack 3254 in September 2001, where he moved through the ranks of Bobcat, Wolf and Bear. He then transferred to Mother Cabrini Pack 3214. He moved through Webelos I and Webelos II, earning the Arrow of Light in March 2005. He then crossed over to Boy Scout Troop 214.
Whilein Troop 214, he earned the following ranks: Tenderfoot in June 2005, Second Class in March 2006, First Class in March 2007, Star in November 2007, and Life in February 2009. From there, he transferred to Troop 250 at Clarks Grove Church in Irish Valley. He became an ordeal member of the Order of the Arrow in June 2007 and a Brotherhood member in July 2008. He has earned a total of 31 merit badges.
To finish the requirements for Eagle Scout and complete his project, he painted the emergency exits at the American Legion on Independence Street. He earned his Eagle Scout on Sept. 26.
Wengrenovich is a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Gowen City and until the age of 18, served as an acolyte.
Wengrenovich graduated from Shamokin Area Middle/High School in June 2012. He is taking classes at Luzerne County Community College and pursuing a career in computer science. He is employed at Green's Family Restaurant in Lavelle.
